Engineering work

Engineering work is an essential part of maintaining and upgrading our rail network. Here you'll find all the planned engineering work scheduled to impact LNER services over the next 12 weeks.

Sometimes we may need to make additional short notice changes and recommend you still check your journey as close as possible to your date of travel.

If we do change things after you have bought a ticket, you can either use any reasonable alternative LNER service, or claim a full refund.

Significant upcoming works

Planned engineering between Peterborough and Doncaster on Sunday 18 October

Planned upgrade works are taking place between Peterborough and Doncaster on Sunday 18 October.

While work takes place, LNER will run an hourly service each way between Scotland and London King’s Cross, and one service every two hours each way between Leeds and London King’s Cross. These services will use a diversionary route between Peterborough and Doncaster, extending journey times by around 60 minutes.

Rail replacement coaches will operate in both directions between Doncaster, Retford, Newark Northgate, Grantham and Peterborough and will connect with LNER train services at Peterborough and Doncaster. For details of rail replacement locations at each station, please see our rail replacement page.

In addition:

• There will be no LNER services to or from Lincoln. Rail replacement coaches will operate in both directions between Peterborough, Grantham and Lincoln, connecting with LNER train services at Peterborough.

• There will be no LNER services to or from Bradford Forster Square, Harrogate, Hull or Skipton.

We recommend planning ahead and allowing extra time if you are travelling on this date.
